Saturday I spent the day with Danny at our States Capital. He had been invited to participate in a group discussion about Fire Protection. { When the Nut season is over, he spends his time putting out fires, as a Private Fire Protection Contractor} They are the guys they call in to help out when county and state units are stretched thin.
Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries headed the meeting of about 50. I would say it was... a lively meeting. I don't think I've ever been in a room with a bunch of tougher looking guys. Many are retired Navy, Marine, and veteran firefighters. Not a soft hand in the bunch of them.
Issues, concerns, and problems were discussed along with lots of suggestions and maybe some solutions.
If you live in a fire prone area you might, if you haven't already educate yourself about some of the "fire" issues out there. Especially if you live in a rural area, where wildfires are becoming more frequent and more dangerous.
There are some voices out there that believe that saving money is more important than saving homes and lives.
