Jessica is having a baby girl in little over a month! Heidi, Bree and I decided to "shower" her with a little love.
Baby shower theme- "Little Lamb"
Sandi was kind enough to offer her home for the event- Thanks so much Sandi!
We had a blast planning and working together...get ready for tons of pictures...Happy Day.
Baby Shower for Jessica- Little Lamb
Decorations-
The flowers- Lambs ear, daises with purple centers, sweet peas, purple stock
Menu- P&J sandwiches stacked like a cake, asparagus pasta salad, yogurt bar.
Birthday Predictions

One of the favorite things that we did-
"Wishes for the Baby"
I loved that everyone got to pretend to be a fairy God Mother and sprinkle a little magic around the room.
One of sweetest little comments came from my 7 year old granddaughter-
she wrote-
"I hope you grow until you die"
think about it, don't we all want that? to grow and learn until we die.
Sweet Wisdom from a 7 year old.
We kept the guest list intimate... dear family, close friends and women that Jessica serves with in Primary.
We did not plan this- stripes are in. =)
The favors-
Mini burlap "lamb" bags
filled with mini soap and twine
Share your favorite name- the ladies wrote their favorite girls name on a tag and worn it during the shower....all the tags were given to Jessica to put in the baby book....when her little girl is older she can look back and see what the popular names were.
Sugar spun wool- cotton candy
The cupcakes- Heidi made them....so very yummy!
Fun Opening gifts-
Happy couple- Jessica and Mason
Thank you Heidi (some of these pictures are from Heidi} and Bree for all your help.
Thank you so much Sandi for opening your beautiful home to us.
Now that Christmas is over and all the gifts have been opened.....thought I would share what I made for our children that went along with our Homemade Christmas theme-
Gift Number one-
First- hold your breath ladies....yes, I cut up my Wedding dress
I wanted to make a special little envelope for my Daughter, daughters in law and my granddaughters. Something special for them to use in the Temple. My dress had been sitting in the closet for over 35 years...so it was time to do something with it.
Shannon being my only daughter...received my wedding veil in a shadow box. I was able to make 10 envelopes from my dress. .... I included my personal testimony of Temple work and a picture of me wearing the dress. (I was able to soak my veil to help it return to white...but the satin on my wedding dress ...not so much...so they received vintage satin and lace envelopes}
Gift number two-
Over a few years I collected Dans old work jeans- and turned them into picnic blankets for the kids-
30 pairs of jeans, 500 squares, 5 picnic blankets = lots of sewing.
Each was given a large picnic bag- filled with bamboo plates, spoons and forks- wreck jars for food, a cheese cutting board, and a few fun extras
Signed- Love always Mom and Dad.
With a gift note saying we plan to help with a project they want done around their home.
Raw seams- meaning I washed a few times before wrapping....it took some time to trim all the threads. Happy Day
I plan on taking a vacation from the sewing machine for awhile. =)
Gift Number three-
Each of our children received a shadow box with something sentimental in it.
Denver received his "blankie" back....see note.
I saved all Sam's swimming ribbons ...to remind him how awesome he is.
Shannon received my wedding veil
I forgot to get a picture but Kent and Mason received a shadow box with coins in them....They were some 1960's Kennedy Half dollars.....Danny's Dad had carried them around then gave them to Danny when he was a boy....they went to Kent & Mason.
While I was preparing these gifts, I kept thinking how blessed I am....it really is a wonderful life.
The grand-kids received a gift from their wish list.
With a few of our children so close by we decided it would be fun to have a Family Progressive dinner. Starting at Denver's for appetizers, then to Mason's for Hot Soup and ornament exchange then on to Sam's for peppermint shakes and singing.
It was a perfectly fun evening...the only thing that would of made it better was to have Shannon and Kent there....
Here is our evening in pictures.
Merry Christmas (sorry some of the words get cut off in typepad format...but the rest is there}
Denver and Bree-
Sam, Mason and Denver
Mason, Jessica and baby girl due in late April =)
Sam, Heidi, Carlee, Preston, Audrey and Cole
Merry Christmas from all of us...even Audrey and the Christmas puppy.
Summer is speeding by....4th of July came and when, Kent had a birthday, Preston had a birthday, Denver and Bree closed on their first home and we are painting, cleaning and working.
Summer is Here!
A Few Pictures from the 4th of July-
Ice-cream and a parade.
Small town parade.
Swimming at the Mill House.
Fireworks at the football field- Something we have done for 35 years.
Tradition- Fireworks in the front yard after the football field fireworks.
Happy Birthday to Kent! Next year a float in your honor =)
Preston had his 6th birthday.... We enjoyed dinner and dessert with the family!
We always enjoy watching the kids open their gifts...so cute, everyone has to get in on the fun. Carlee presented Preston with a fun birthday gift.....Preston's remarks followed with a hug...."I have the best sister."
Denver and Bree have the keys to their first home....one they can make their own (fixer upper)
My gift to them- I painted their kitchen cabinet's and walls. (the walls were red and the cabinets were brown.} Danny and Sam are tiling the bathrooms for them.
and I got to babysit go on a date....with this cute little guy.
Family by family they started to arrive on Friday- we were all staying in the same place....which is nice because if there was any down time we could hang out together.
(lets just say there was very little down time this trip.}
Shannon and her family came in first on Thursday night...so we had a little more time with them. Which included a breakfast of all bacon for Payton. (with a little fruit on the side =)
The Gardens were beautiful where we stayed.
Payton and Conner pretending to be fish- silly
Ellie and Audrey Hanging out together
Nicholas and Anna fishing
Shannon getting her baby fix with adorable Cole
400 year old Bonsai- Jessica's Dad's hobby. He has quite a few.... around a 100 or more.
Payton acting like a fish.
Mario hosted a family lunch at his home. (set up by Kathleen} We enjoyed our afternoon with Jessica and her family.
After the lunch it was time to get ready for Mason's Bachelor Party....we have a tradition in our family; where the night before the boys get married... as a family we decide on something fun to do together...plus it is a good time to embarrass them one more time.
And the sign...they have to wear the sign the whole time.
We gathered by the fountain at the hotel....to start the party.
This was the back of the sign.
Here we all are- {John & Libby, Amy & Brian and family met up with us there}
We always have to take a second picture because Kent has a joke to tell.
All my children- Shannon, Sam, Kent, Denver and Mason- {hey... so....how do they do that all the time without thinking?...line up in birth order. =)
Welcome sir Mason....is this really your Bachelor Party?
It was super hard to get a good picture inside...so please forgive the fuzziness.
We took up two whole rows! Holy Cow!
We ate with our hands, screamed at the top of our voices.....yep....pretty much a guy thing....but fun. I even heard a few of my Granddaughters yell..."off with his head" . Good activity wouldn't you say ? (smile}
Fun, fun, Fun!
But while that was a blast......this is my favorite part.....
(Scott is there...on the ground...taking one for the team...all seats were taken....didn't want to get too tight on the beds =}
Meeting back at the hotel for family counsel, gifts, talking, laughing, sharing advice and laughing.
Each one shared some heart felt advice about marriage ....very touching and sweet. Danny also gave Mason a Father's Blessing.
He opened some fun gifts- camera, Binoculars, batteries, a set of books...The art of being a man.....and few other things that will remain unmentioned. ( the little children were in bed asleep...in the linking room... video baby monitors are wonderful things.}
this statement is from Shannon's blog....for some reason the link I have to Kents party is broken....
The family Bachelor Party. Once we arrived in Logan and Kent returned from his pre-wedding breakfast with Becca the festivities began. Kent loves IHOP (I didn't know this before last week). Like really, really loves IHOP. So the plan was to go to IHOP for breakfast, lunch, and wait for it, wait for it . . . . dinner. Well Kent got stolen away for breakfast (ahhh, newlyweds -- can't you please keep your hands off of each other for 2 seconds?! Sheesh.). Kent & Becca were unaware of our plans and guess where they went for breakfast. IHOP. Throughout the day Kent had to wear a sign that said, "I'm getting married tomorrow, Wish me Luck!" After lunch our next stop was Best Buy (a.k.a. the holy land for Kent). My parents told Kent they were getting him a PS3 for wedding/Christmas (that put a giant smile on his face) so we all set out to find games & accessories. Of course this led to gaming back at the hotel. And when it came time for dinner a a mutiny surfaced and the plan for IHOP was abandoned. Instead we went to the Olive Garden and enjoyed Sam's 25% employee discount.
Sam bachelor party- was before I starting blogging....so no links. =(
We took him to Home Depot where he too had to wear a sign. We stood at the front doors with a basket. As the family paired up and ran all over Home depot looking for a gift....if you put the same thing in the basket as someone else you had to return it and look for something else. Tons of fun....They even broadcast over the speakers that he was holding his bachelor party at the store....several people {Strangers} left gifts in his basket also... that they had paid for...fun!
We have a plan....Shannon missed out on a bachelorette party....coming soon!
For Memorial Day the kids gathered at the Mill house for a simple BBQ. (Usually we are up at Cathey's Valley for family things.....more space there}
The kids tried to swim....they did for a while...then it just became too cold....it even rained a bit.
Everyone chipped in for the meal....so it was awesome.
Hamburgers and hot dogs
Fruit and vegetable kabob's
Crock-pot beans
Pie
Hawaiian style shaved ice.
When it became a little too cold to swim the kids came in to watch cartoons to get warm. (can't believe I'm saying this at the end of May....it's never this cold.}
Cole decided he didn't like the idea of sharing with the kids....so he came to play games with us.
Which was a good thing....he became our good luck charm.
A little before and after-
Mill house before-
The Mill House after- just some paint and a few yard touch ups.
We have a few more things we would like to do...when we are finished I will share.
Our Plans-
Decorative iron gate on the right side
new garage doors
arbor over the garage doors
and iron decorative panels for the wall leading up t0 the front door.
**************
It was a wonderful day with the family- I am thankful that we have the freedoms we enjoy and...
On this Memorial Day I am especially Thankful; as we are reminded almost daily of the great sacrifices that the men and women of the Armed Services make to defend our way of life. I am thankful for them.
I also believe Patriotism consists not only in standing strong with those so strive to keep our country free; but also in striving to be a righteous country as well as a strong one.
My Blog began in 2005- I write about "whatever" I am doing- about my husband (Danny) and our 5 grown children and grandchildren. I write about the things I love...from creating a new room to playing with my grand-kids...I share my blessings and my testimony about my Mormon Faith.{The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints} I love finding ways to be happy and enjoy the blessings I've been given....come what may.....Happy Day
