Anchored in Christ Turlock California Stake Young Womens Camp- Liahona 2015
I'm going to try sum up the rest of camp in this last post. The theme this year for camp was wonderful!
Anchored in Christ.
"If you will remain unwaveringly ANCHORED to the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be blessed and all of the promises of the eternities will be given unto you." M. Russell Ballard
Girls camp isn't just about crafts, hiking, food, etc....it is so much more. It's about building lasting friendships, serving one another and coming to know for sure who they are as a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father and to gain/strengthen their testimonies. (180 girls attended)
Each morning the girls would gather in the "forest Chapel" for Morning Devotional and Scripture study.
They were given personal time to reflect "Mountain moments" as we would call them. Always so tender.
From there they would go to the flag circle and then on to Breakfast. Here is a little example of what they would do after breakfast.
- Capers/clean up
- Craft time
- Certification
- Lunch
Certification and activities- each of the groups also went on a hike...(the older girls went on an over night hike) I stayed in camp while they did that.
After lunch and clean up we would gather the girls for Shining Moments/mountain Moment (personal journal/study time)
Sandi and I team taught Shining moments our topic was based on Elder Ballard talk- "Stay in the Boat" we also spent time talking and sharing our thoughts on Testimonies. (Melissa and Becky meet in another area)
Because our topic was Stay in the Boat....of course we made little driftwood sailboats for each of the girls.
After shining moments-
- Service Project
- crafts
- free time
As a Stake Young Women's Presidency we thought it might be fun to have Pop UP parties from time to time.
Pop Up Party-
Our Pop up parties consisted of snow-cones, spa treatments (back rub) finger nail station, soda pop and candy and a snowball fight using the large marshmallows.
After Free time and Craft time- the girls set up for dinner.
- Dinner time
- flag prep
- Flag
- Campfire
The Camp Men- what would we do without them?...helping out in so many ways......and even being good sports in the skit department- I think they were live toga wearing fountains.
But seriously they were awesome- Look at this anchor....each year he carves the camp theme out of wood....he just finds a log up at camp and creates a masterpiece! The fourth year girls that go on the overnight hike then get to sign it. It stays up at camp.
Awesome!
Campfire is full of singing, skits, rumors and fun. (they do end on a spiritual note =)
After campfire- the girls have home evening with their level. Other evening activities included.
- Star Gazing
- Anchor walk-
- Kisses and wishes- As a Stake Young Women's Presidency we made the rounds to the girls cabins to wish them good night...with candy kisses and a wish for the next day.
- night zip lining
Anchor Walk- Faith building stories and testimonies
The girls followed a lighted path stopping at each lantern for sharing.
Lights out by 10:30
Be a Woman of Christ- The world needs you. A Women's abiding trust in God and unfailing devotion to things of the spirit have always been an anchor when the wind and the waves of life were fiercest.
Life is beautiful and worth living. Wind, storm, and prevailing currents may tempt us to drift into dangers seen or unseen, but the gospel message and its divine power will keep us on our path back to the safe harbor of our Heavenly Father.
Let us, therefore, not only listen to the talks of the April general conference but also apply their messages as a firmly set anchor to our daily lives.
May God bless and guide us in this significant and essential endeavor! Presiddent Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Thank you to everyone who helped with camp...for your hours and hours of service and love. May you be blessed beyond measure.
Love ya- Happy Day
