For years I've been on a mission to rid my life of builder grade grainy oak kitchen cabinets, and as a budget solution I've painted them- white
I love a White Kitchen-
My first "white" kitchen make over was in our very first home as a married couple-
In the 1980s I had a kitchen that looked a lot like this "1960's" one below.... black hinges and all.
(wish I had a picture of it....that was back when you used "film" to take pictures...back in the old day....before we thought about recording things like this. =)

We were on a very tight budget....kind of the story of our life as we were raising our children. Well, long story short...there was a can of white paint in the garage left over from another project.... and one day ....I just "had at it" and painted these bad boys white!
and I loved them!
The start of my love for white kitchens! But, I have to say....I took a lot of flak from family and friends...thinking I had lost my mind! A white kitchen are you kidding me....?
Now look at us today...white kitchens everywhere!
Since then...I can't even remember the number of times I have painted kitchen cabinets! (for myself or someone else)
There was a few moments when I went to the "dark" side- The Hamlet

I do love black cabinets too- there was a time in the 80's.... when I painted lots of thrift store furniture black....again, being told I was a little crazy.
Well, I've been planning and dreaming for a long time...for what I hope to be my forever White kitchen! As I stated in an earlier post we are in the planning stages for our New Home-
Gathering lots of inspiration....hoping my kitchen looks something like this-

I love White kitchens!
In the painted v. wood kitchen cabinet debate, some designers have labeled the all white kitchen trendy but I disagree. I believe a kitchen with white cabinets will always feel fresh and clean and is therefore timeless. (and white kitchens have been around since 1920...classic I say)
and...OK, people, here is the dirty little secret about kitchens, whether white or dark: They all have the same issues when it comes to cleanliness! I just prefer to see the dirt so I make sure to clean it up. =)
Also white plays nice- every color looks great paired with white.
In every home I've lived in I've tried to have some white cabinets....the mill house kitchen is not white....and though I think it is a very nice kitchen...I'm so missing me some white cabinets!
Okay back to dreaming- (creamy gray/white is also catching my eye)

Linen and Lavender
Some of the kitchens I painted white-
The cottage Kitchen all about the cottage

Catheys Valley Kitchen- all about
and then there was the time I went to the "gray" side- Cabin kitchen

Tell me what is your favorite kitchen style?
I love white Kitchens!
note- I know what you are probably thinking right now, I’m sounding a little like a crazy cat lady only about white kitchens....you may be right. =)
Happy Day
