Monday's five-

Five things I worked on last week- sometimes I feel like my own landscape business....worked on about 2 acres  this week....well, for that matter ....every-week.

My ironing list for the week-

• sheets
• shirts- usually 7-14
• napkins

 

I'm thinking for a while..On Monday I will post the simple day to day....somewhat ordinary things that happen.

It's all about finding the joy.

Looking Out-

I love looking out this window...especially when our Crepe Myrtle is ablaze in Autumn's splendor. 

I stood high on the stairs....to take this picture....to get a better perspective....this picture was taken in the morning....but look how the camera focused on the light....leading me to enjoy the fall colors even more.

The house seemed so quiet....so I just sat there on the stairs thinking-  My head filling with all kinds of thoughts....I decided to write down a few that stayed with me throughout the day.

• Service and perspective....brings out the best in all of us.  
• It gets us looking outward instead of inward.  
• It prompts us to consider others needs ahead of our own.....
• I love seeing young families teach their children to serve.....
• We will not save our children by focusing only on fun activities which are more inward-looking.
• Teach them to serve.
• The light always surrounds the best things.....look to the light...I wish I could be more like a camera and always focus on the light. 
• Oh, How Heavenly Father loves us...Thank Thee so much for Fall.

Kent & Family came for a visit-

We enjoyed a wonderful short visit with Kent and family.   After Anna's baptism they followed us home to Ca.

We had a wonderful time with them.... celebrating Sam's birthday, beach day, taco truck and shopping.

I think Cole managed to eat a couple hands full of sand.

 (so we tried to keep the pacifer in his mouth.=)

The weather was perfect...little wind and around  the 70's

 It was great seeing the cousins having fun together.

Before we played on the beach- we took a little walk to the butterfly preserve....beautiful.  All I had to take pictures with was my phone....so, I didn't even try to take pictures of the butterflies.

anna's baptism day: re-cap

Carlee and Anna

Carlee traveled with us to Anna's baptism....she was a joy to have along.   At the Resort...she would sing in the shower "this is so beautiful...this is so pretty"   

The trip was super quick like 36 hours round trip....

Just long enough to have a little fun.....and to play with her cousins.

Anna's Baptism Day-

We gathered at Shannon's Home last weekend for Anna's Baptism Day.   We were so excited for her and her decision to be baptized.   Her Mother talks about it here.    (such a beautiful day}

As Anna's "Grammer" what joy it was to see her make this decision my heart swells just thinking about it.

Watching her grow and learn....all I can say is "such joy"

Here are a few picture of our Day-

Anna dressed in white- this was the dress she was baptized in.  Carlee and Anna are so cute together.

and to note....This is the very Dress that Anna's Mother Shannon was  baptized in...be still my heart.

Conner and Payton were part of the program- Conner gave a beautiful talk, Payton said a prayer and all three of them sang a song.

A True Autumn Day-

I worked in the Garden all day- and would stop from time to time....because of the stillness, so quiet.  I wondered if all the birds were out flying about the earth seeking all things Autumn...

because....this tree still held tight all it's red berries.  ( usually the birds eat them gone the day they turn red...wondering why this year they are still there}

Some of the roses were pushing forth their last hooray.

The trees- here and there a yellow leaf shows itself... and a touch of red beside the resting hydrangea 

The garden beds are now empty...taking a little break....quiet.

 

A true Autumn Day...so Still.

Love Fall- Favorite Things Party-

Last year  my Daughter Shannon had a Favorite things party.. after seeing her party I planned to do one of my own...it's taken me a whole year to finally do it.  A lot of my party ideas came from her party...click here for all the details-

My Friend Sandi and I got together and planned the Party

here it is....in a nutshell.

Setup-

 

 

 Just a simple little welcome at the door.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

• Each guest received a brown bag- we took their picture...to be pinned to their brown bag.
• Fresh Apple juice with birch log straws
• Hanging lanterns, chocolate fountain and  fresh fruit.

Pumpkins from the pumpkin patch as part of the party favors.

Party Favors- burlap bag with a spool of twine, birch straw and mini pumpkin.

Can I just say...I really have a hard time having my picture taken...but this is for the record...I was there.  =)

I tried to get a picture of all 15  in the living room...but came out so blurry!  Sad =(

I need some serious "night picture taking help" with my camera!

The house felt like Christmas day-

How it works-

Each guest came with 4 gifts ( something that they LOVE (under $6).   

 

1. At the party they wrote their name 4 different times on 4 different pieces of paper...put in large bowl. 
2. when the gift exchange begins- we would draw names and everyone will go home with four new favorite things.
3. Let the fun begin.  We also playedDownload Favorite-things-game....Everyone fills out the entire questionnaire.  Then we go around and reveal our answers, one question at a time . . . .  If someone else has the same answer, you cross it out.  (It's important that you don't leak this game play info before you start!)  Gave out two prizes for this game.  Lowest and Highest.

 

 

It was great fun to see all the different things the women came with....I wish I had kept a record....some I can remember-   candles, rush massage bar, LED snowmen, measuring spoons, a soap that keeps your towels smelling awesome, fresh flowers, tea towels, books, nail polish, garden gloves, a pie pastry form, makeup, beautiful scarfs, chocolate...and so much more.

 

See what I mean so blurry....and yes, we had one little guy at the party. 

Fun!

I may need to do this again sometime.

Oh, as the night ended a little bird decided to fly into the house....added a little bit of crazy excitement....Danny was in the bedroom and thought we sounded like a bunch of 12 year old girls screaming.... It reminded me of a scene from a movie.   All is well, the bird made it out safe.

Tons of fun.

My super simple almost "free" Fall Mantel

I decided it was time to add a little bit more "Fall" to the house...because really all I had in the home was this wreath...click on over and check it out.

All you need is....

• paper from an old book.
• felt...a few felt balls and about 2 inches of flat felt.
• jute

Truly is doesn't get any easier.  If you can cut and thread a needle...you are on your way.
