Master bedroom "suite" before-
By No means is this room large enough to be called a "suite".... but, what is that saying?..."Treat someone like you want to be treated and it will come back to you" I'm hoping that works for homes too. {smile}
For the master bedroom, I wanted enough space and storage so that my path from the bed to bath would be straight; enough color to give the room personality {but easy to change with little cost} seating for resting, reading, or for Danny to dump place his clothes on. =).
I wanted good linens....there is something wonderful about freshly laundered cotton sheets; a bedside table and lamp, a desk for writing notes; and art.
I'm slowing making this room our own.
master details-
-
Paint- sandstone gray
-
carpet color- burlap

I tend to avoid the matching set of furniture. For me it seems easy to buy a bed-stand, chest of drawers, and pair of nightstands....but where's the fun in that, especially if you love to hunt for things. I love a distinctive headboard and mismatched nightstands. {It was a habit I picked up as a child; finding clothes and furniture for my doll house or play house....I loved to hunt through my Mothers old things to make our play house pretty....plus we never had any money...Then as a newlywed....same story no money, so I learned to hunt. ...and now I do it because it's fun....I was painting furniture black/white....way before it was ok to do that =)
- outdoor iron table turned desk...adding a glass top, makes for a perfect desk- I found the table at The Vintage Market.....one of my favorite places.
- Yellow chair came from the Cottage- I found it at Target on line.
- Chalk painted Vintage linen dresser
- Old white dresser used as night-stand- my must do....when nightstands don't match, it's good to have a pair of lamps that do....just crazy me. =)
- Shutters turned headboard- again Vintage Market is where I found them.
- Chair from the Cottage kitchen- repainted in Vintage linen {chalk paint}
Shutters turned headboard-
-
Bedside table-
There are still some things I would like to "finish" -
- Taller lamps by the bedside-
- Arrange collection of art or mirrors to follow the side lines of the headboard
- Adding a textured throw to the foot of the bed.
- accent drapes to soften the room
- more art
But, for now the room is working perfectly for us.
Now...I have a question and a little dilemma-
Here's the deal- I painted the Mill house island "Mill House Gray"
{Thanks Paige and Becca for the name} anyway...I love the color-
See here-
Now take a look at the cabinet behind the island......I plan on changing that big time....along with the big changes....... I will be painting it.
Question? Do I paint it the same color as the island?
or....
Paint it the same color as the bench in the entry?-
Not sure if I want to add another color to the kitchen...but then it may be great....and... I like different.....what to do? What to do?
{the rest of the cabinets are staying the blond color...honoring Danny's request....but have no fear....I'm switching them up big time too.... not painting....but different. {he lives here too =)
Help.....thanks.
Did I mention I love finding treasures at The Vintage Market ....well, I do.
Happy Day!
A little Closer look at the cabinet-
