Tracey did well on her first Mountain Camping..... and it wasn't a just pull off the road kind of camping site. We drove 3 miles in on a narrow one way road. So worth the effort, we had the place to ourselves...I believe we may have been the only one on that part of the mountain at that time....so quiet.
This is pretty much what surrounded us. We were in the Sierra National Forest. We went to this place because we can also ride the razors there. There are more than 60 miles of ATV trails....but make sure to get a map because you will get lost.
Sam, Heidi and kids went with us.
Here's our camping story.
Playing-
Right next to where we camped was a clear slow moving stream....the kids had a blast in it; Swimming and looking for gold.
The razors got a work out- the trails are really dusty now, so everyone came back covered in dirt. {When we have gone in the earlier months the dust is not a problem.} Thank goodness for the stream.
Fire
What ia a camp-out without playing with fire? Carlee and Preston did plenty of that....they even got a lesson from their Dad on how to start a fire with sticks and stones....and it worked! {you must have a fire permit to have a fire in the National forest....ranger stations have them...and yes, they will check on you.}
Relaxing-
Sam made most of our fires and in the last picture {sorry that it is blurry- Carlee would entertain us by getting up on a log and singing made up camp songs.}
Food-
Keeping it simple I thought- {Danny thought otherwise.}
- Tin foil dinners- Hamburger, potatoes and carrots.
- Watermelon
- Hot dogs & chips
- Fresh baked cookies
- Hot chocolate, egg, bacon and Sam's awesome pancakes- {My birthday breakfast. Preston found a little flower for me to add to my breakfast...he is an adorable little guy.}
- Big smores
- lots of snacks- carrots, grapes and pudding.
Heidi made the cutest little fabric "bowl covers" for my camping bowls." {to help keep bugs out} Wish I had taken a picture.....they are in Tracey now. Thanks Heidi, I love them.
There was a very large flat rock at our camp site- the kids used it as a table.
Sweetie Gnome -
Preston gave our travel gnome a new name.....he will now be known as Sweetie Gnome.....the kids were enchanted with him. =)
Heidi and the Kids-
Heidi is always the one with the camera- so I wanted to make sure she was in a couple of pictures. {usually the one with the camera gets left out of all the pictures...unless they say....please take of picture of me with this etc. etc.}
If you are the picture taker in your family you know what I mean. I'm trying to be better about asking people to take pictures with me in them. What do you do...if you are the family photographer?
{Young Mothers be in the picture....I have very few pictures of me and my children doing things together....don't be invisible like me.} Okay, so I'm getting off the subject....back to camping.
We had a wonderful time...the only thing that would make it better would be for the mosquito's to find a different camp site.....next time Iam coming prepared for war.
Tracey did well.....and it was nice to have a clean fresh bath near by....there are no services there.
Happy Day.
