We hit a "mile stone" today- the little Hamlet is now ready to move furniture in. The floors are done, the baseboards are in, and I spent a whole day touching up the paint, cleaning off the glue etc. etc.
Here are a few before and after's so you can see the Progress- I'm so excited to be at this point!
Before- Living Room
After-
Okay, so I'm not a big "fan" of ceiling fans- But I like to keep the Man happy =) ( I have a plea to send out to all you design engineers- please come up with some new designs for ceiling fans!}
- We painted the walls
- laid new floor
- new tile on the fire place
- replace the sliding door with a French door.
-
added new molding.
Budget helps-
- purchased flooring during Memorial Day weekend sale- at a savings of 40%
- found a discount molding warehouse in Bakersfield-{thanks Sam} got the molding for the whole house at 1/3 of the cost- {comparing prices with Home Depot} the only draw back they are sold in 16 foot lengths - so it was a must to have a trailer to haul them.
- Did ALL the work ourselves.
fireplace before-
After
All we did was replace the tile with new tile- with very little money you can have a whole new look- There was only around 10 square feet to do- so we splurged a little on great stacked tile. But we still refaced it for about $100-
If you want to change the look of your living room for very little money - refacing your fireplace, replacing a slider with a french door adding new paint- has a huge impact for relativity little money- We bought an in stock french door for under $600.00 and installed it ourselves- {They want more than the cost of the door to install it for you.}
Bedroom before- {I know I have a better "before" picture somewhere- can't seem to find it in my files =(
At least you can see it in the "beginning" stage- Bree and I will be working together on this room next month.
{the ceiling fan in this room is much better- at least the lights aren't blasting you in the face like a UFO landing.}
There you have just a little look at where we are- now the fun part starts- I have tons to share- step by step- stage by stage-
Progress...... a good thing.
It is a Beautiful Life- I'm grateful for a sweet husband that has the skills to help make my vision come true.
Happy day.
I'm linking up with Melissa and others and sharing what makes their lives beautiful.
