Adventures in remodeling- and a few Random things.

                                                                                 

No, we aren't remodeling but our son is. Danny couldn't help himself....every remodel we have ever done, he has left a message somewhere for me to read.  Thought I would share a few pictures- I won't give too much away, I want to leave the big reveal for Heidi.

Procrastinators Party- The After Photos

This was the before-

 

• Horrible windows
• Boring planter

• Drawer full of pictures

• Pot locked in Christmas past-

I asked for your help- and you came through-

Now the after-

 

• Windows cleaned- many of you gave me great advise-  I tried them all, these three worked the best- Rochelle,said  "DONT USE WINDEX. Streak free and perfect windows comes from an aerosol type can. You can find it at most any store. Sprayway, glass cleaner."    Becca said-"The best way I've found to get a window clean with no streaks is to use two microfiber rags--get one wet with just plain water and scrub the window, and then go over it with the dry rag until all the streaks and water is gone. It's amazing, and it doesn't leave little fuzzies from paper towels or newspapers behind." Ellen gave me this recipe for clean windows- 1 T rubbing alcohol 1 gal. HOT water-   These three ideas worked like a charm- But I have to say Rochelle's way was the easiest =)
• Boring planter- got a new Gazing Ball, simple but fun.
• Drawer full of pictures- still working on this one- but here is the start- PS-Erin said this-"I got some Ikea boxes and filed them chronologically, so they'd be ready for when I do have the time & plan for what to do with them long term."
• Planter of Christmas past- painted the top rim green- filled with rocks and put in the tall tea light poles {didn't buy one thing to remake- just stuff I had}- easy and no water needed. Marie said   "P.S. For starters....take the Christmas lights off the last plant."  :) {look Marie no lights =)

So there you have it, thanks for helping me remove all the "Shame"  Special thanks to Melissa for giving me a little kick to finish some of my "unfinished" project.

Do you think I live in the Zoo?

Every since I washed my windows {I know, it's about time} Birds have been attacking my house- {not just the crazy glass picking woodpecker- literally all birds- from Turkeys on down/up, whatever.}

For days I would hear this mysterious knocking- go to the door and nothing would be there- Then one morning this crazy knocking is happening again- Dan gets up out of bed- heads to the door- This is what followed in a very loud crazy voice-  "Teresa, run, quick get your camera, there's a crazy big turkey knocking at the door!' {but of course by the time I find the camera he is gone, Turkeys are faster then you think.}

Maybe I need to "dirty" up the windows again- because seriously I feel like I'm at the zoo! {please don't let your children tap on the glass at the zoo- it's really not all that fun for the animal behind the glass =)

I think all the great tips you gals gave me really did the trick... bats are even knocking-  good grief!

Church Prom 2009

Sandi and I rolled out the tables & chairs, fluffed the feathers, stuffed the tissue paper, and hung the Crystal-

I was responsible for the Centerpieces- {later in this post I will also be showing you a few pictures from the Dance Hall decorations- someone else's creation.}

 

• 275 Feathers
• 12 tall  vases- 8 small cylinder vases
• 21 round mirrors-
• 30 one time use lights
• 5 pounds of rice
• 15 yards ribbon
• 6 packages of tissue
• 21 white table linens
• 1 very large branch- in one large pot- glass crystal ornaments
• two friends to put it all together-

 

 

 

That was my part- the meal and table settings were done by another group- Here's a couple of pictures for you to enjoy from the Dance- {my sister in law Amy was in charge of this part, she assigned Heather to help; Heather came up with the design and  created this beauty.}

 

 

It is done- hooray!

 

Mission Report-

Every couple of weeks I thought I would give you an update on Mason- highlights from his letters-

He is doing great and loving it- He will be heading to Montana next week- Yes, already- We get to talk to him on Tuesday!   Happy Day.

Letter #1- April 22-2009

• My first day at the MTC was really awesome. I was made the Senior companion for this week.
• I'm enjoy being here.  I can't wait until I start my classes, I can tell I am going to enjoy them.
• My companion is Elder Tabor from N.Y.  He is a cool guy.
• Well my first day was great. I'm fine, this is awesome.
• My mind seems to be more open  and I'm learning more than ever before.

Letter #2- April 29- 2009

•  Well everything is awesome here.

• Sunday we had a fireside that was the best- it was one of the best Sundays that I ever had.

• My testimony is growing so much and it seems that everyday it is getting a little bit stronger.

• The Temple is awesome.

• All of my district are cool missionaries.  There are 8 of us going to Montana 6 Elders and 2 Sisters.

• Well, this whole experience has been awesome.  I love it so much.

• Well, I'm having a blast.

• Well, I love you guys, thank you for raising me up to be the person I'm today.

Letter #3- May 6, 2009

• Monday we had lots of study time. It was fun.
• At a fireside- we started to sing "Praise to the Man," during it we all stood up and sang it with all our strength.
• They assigned me to be the travel leader for my group, that's awesome I think.
• Next time I write I will be in Montana.
• Tell Sam that I put on about 5 pounds so far.
• I will be calling you Tuesday from the Airport.
• I love you guys-
• Love Mason/Elder Andersen

My thoughts-

Love that he is having an "awesome" time- and that he thinks everyone is cool, and is having fun studying.  I love that he feels it is important to counsel us- cute. 

 I also Love that he signs his letters- {Mason/Elder Andersen}

Someone is always listening-

 

Listening- you can learn a lot by just listening.

This sweet little digital voice recorder  is in our car, well mainly it's in Dan's car.  We do a lot a driving and find it's a great time to think about all the things that need to be done, or great ideas come to mind.  But wouldn't you know it by the time we have reached our destination we have forgotten all our fabulous ideas, etc.

 This little guy is to helps us out with that problem.

Girlfriends and talking-

Remember that little trip to Filoli? At some point during our trip we activated that little recorder-  Fast forward a few days- Dan takes the recorder with him to work- turns it on to listen to his "to do" list and got a little surprise-

Yes, you guessed it, a recorder full of us talking-

{so me thinking really fast, man I hope we didn't say anything .... you know that shouldn't be said} We usually just talk about home, gardens, church, family-  I asked him, so did you listen to it?

These are Dan's words -  "Yes, some.  It was so cute to hear you girls talking, how fun to know that I could and not be worried about finding something out I shouldn't know.  Loved hearing the excitement in your voices as you talked about the gardens and fun girl stuff-  and the kind words you said about different people-"

What a relief, not that I was worried- but glad I didn't need to worry-

It got me to thinking- We really do need to be gentle in the words we say, for we never know who may be listening-  I know there are times I need to work on that-

I wonder if I would be just as happy having this same conversation with a loving Heavenly Father.

I think I better work on that.

I really have to watch my back while I'm out gardening-  It's a Happy Day! and I finally get to Pay it forward-
