Shannon Summer Andersen-
When we were expecting Shannon, our first child. We talked about several girl names for some time. But nothing really stood out. Dan knew a Sister missionary on his Mission who's name was Shannon and really liked the name. I thought the name was original and hadn't heard it so that was good. We also liked the name Candace. At the hospital it was very clear that her name was to be Shannon not Candace, she just didn't look like a Candace. As for her Middle name, she was supposed to be born at the end of Aug. so we thought Summer would be a fun name to remember that by. she came several weeks late, and was born in Sept. but we still stood by Summer as the middle name.
Dan Samuel Andersen-
Sam's name was easy- As the first born boy he received his Dads name Dan- as for the middle name we wanted to keep it with the same letter as Dan {S} so we went with Samuel- not realizing that Sam was the same first name as my Grandfather on my Mothers side. {I had only seen my Grandfather once and for some reason it just didn't hit me until after we named him that} We love the name Sam. It has at time be a source of confusion we call him Sam or Sammy but out in the world they know him as Dan. {only his close friends and family call him Sam}
Kent Garrett Andersen-
Kent was named after spending several months reading baby name from a baby book- It was that easy- We wanted an older, manly, strong name and thats how we came up with Kent- He's one of a kind- I don't think there was ever another "Kent" in any school that he went to.{That is Anna with Kent, where ever Kent goes, fun fellows- Kids love him, he is true to his name}

Denver Sawyer Andersen
As for Denver's name we just saw the name Denver while driving through Colorado I was expecting him and so he became Denver. As for Sawyer I've always loved that name for as long as I can remember. {girls have really liked his name say it was cool or sexy {don't know if thats a good thing}, while he was in High School people always remembered his name because he was the only Denver in a High School of 3,600}

Mason Dylan Andersen
Mason got his name from a movie poster- it was a action hero movie with the name "Mason Storm" as the character. I really liked the name, even wanted to use "Storm" as the middle name, but Dan won't stand for that. I just thought it would be cool to be know as Mason Storm! I also believe that I started the "Mason" name, up to that point I knew of no one else with that name ever.
But just a couple years later the name is popping up everywhere- Even someone in our ward named their child Mason.
{As a note- we thought Mason was going to be a girl, so we had Madison picked out for a girl, always liked the name Madison}
I put this altogether because I was tagged by Heidi, to share why we named our children what we named them- also I believe I have the best children in the world.
I now tag Kristeen, and Pam
