Happy Day the Blue roof is finally finished! We love it so....totally makes the cabin smile.
It is so hard to get a picture of the front of the cabin...so many trees in the way.
Sam was my awesome helper this week...Danny let me steal him away for a few hours to help with some electrical work at the cabin!
Sam is fast and professional!
I learned a hard lesson....earlier this year I hired a "professional electrician" to come and do some work for me, $600 and 5 hours later he along with a helper were done.
Fast forward several months and I have Sam do the same things for me...less than an hour and by himself he was finished....for free. (I gifted him a fun table for his work...I like deals.}
So now he is my go to home-grown electrician....Happy Day
The light is now hanging in "The Nest"
For years Dan and I have wanted a place to share with our grown children and grandchildren- A safe place from the influences of the world- (No TV and yes...not computer!} just us gathering our children to "The nest" a place of protecting and nurturing....secure as possible from the crazy of this world.
A place to bring back communication face to face a place for sitting still with no words... a place to unlock creativity.... a place to play games until we fall asleep...a place that doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful.
That is why this room will be called "The nest" to remind us....that we need to protect our nestlings when possible.....that this is a safe haven.
Just like the mother bird that builds her nest with a little of that and a little of this....This room..."The nest" came together in the same fashion.
I hope it is a happy place for my family.
Let me tell you a little about....
The 3 Bears-
{First of all...let me just say, I am in love with this little red vintage bed. Ruth, my friend....secretly ....was on the hunt for a sweet bed for the cabin....she surprised me with this! Holy Cow! Love it!}
Why 3 Bears-
Three reasons.....
- each of the beds are so very different in color and size.
- the room has 3 bears on the wall
- and hopefully it will be a place that is "just right" for family and friends. (cheesy I know =)
A little of this a little of that.... and a lot not finished....like the wall below.
I always like to leave a little space...for something later on....I wanted to share this with you...even though the room is not finished....I didn't want to wait until it was perfect to share...(that will never happen} I like using it now.....to me a home doesn't have to be perfect to be loved!
The Bunkie even got his beds made...yep...just roll out the sleeping bag and you are ready for bed.
(little note- when I took the old mattress covers off, the mattresses inside were so different...almost looked handmade....they were tried with twine and knotted like a quilt....I wonder how old they are? Any ideas?}
I love it! Seriously, Teresa, they are just perfect!!

What a fun idea of the 3 little bears. My mother mode kicked in and thought what if the kids wake up in the middle of the night and see those faces and get scared..... it will be a fun place and they will love it.

Everything looks wonderful! And that red bed is the sweetest -- what a great friend! Glad Sam could help you out with the house. It's so helpful to have those kinds of skills in the family.
