Burlap and Bows- the rest of the story.

 

After we finished at the Lake we came up to the house for shopping, relaxing, lunch and entertainment. 

In the Garden- 

 

 The ladies spent some time shopping- here's a look at some of the displays.

Lunch, games and entertainment-

 

 

   Paige entertained us with wonderful music.  {She came all the way from Or. with Shannon to do this for us....it was fabulous!}

Lunch consisted of-

 

• Rice salad
• carrots salad
• chicken salad filled pastry puffs
• green salad
• Strawberry shortcake.

 

  

 Becca and Nicholas flew in from TX. just to share the day with us....it was wonderful to see them.{Becca also got in on some of the preparation by gluing tooth picks to the plant-able leaves; by gluing a tooth pick to the end of the stem, they stood better in the dirt.}

At the event we gave out several prizes....one of them was Given to these five ladies below, whom the judges felt dressed the most "Girly Garden"   They each received a white potted orchid to take home. 

 

 

It was truly fun to see everyone.  Some things I've learned over the last few days-

 

• Many hands make for lite work-
• Pray for good weather....it works.
• I know lots of talented women
• Friendships can be made in a day
• Blogs can connect us from far and wide.

 

 I met Karla for the first time in person.....I knew her only through her comments on my blog and through her sister.  She is just as I thought she would be....just wish I had more time to visit with her.

 

 Heidi worked so hard before, during and after the event.  What a trooper.....so many people wanted her cinnamon rolls,  she baked all afternoon.  On top of that she had things she was selling in the boutique, taking pictures, etc.  Plus she spent hours helping me make the decorations.....she was so much help. 

 

I also relied on these two guys....Holy cow, they were so much help. Danny and Steve....Steve is Sandi's HD,  Sandi couldn't make the event, {we were so sad, but she was taking care of her daughter and new grand-baby...which is where she should be. Sandi helped with planning & sewing the Burlap table toppers before she left.} Steve stepped in and took care of some of the things Sandi was to take care of. {He made the puff pastries and one of the salads.}

And of course the girls and all that they did-

 

My friend Ruth was there from planning to  cooking & cleaning. Plus she sewed aprons and tea towels for the sale. She did a million little things on the day of the event.... Thanks Ruth.

 

 

 

Everything is cleaned up and put away.

It was a day I will remember the rest of my life....thanks to Sweet friends.

Burlap and Bows- spring Event- Part two, the lake.

The Spring Event started down at the Lake.  We welcomed each guest as they arrived with a white umbrella and an event program. 

 

 

 It was fun for us to see each one as they came in....oh so "girly garden"  We invited them to go to the water front were they could eat some cheese and crackers, listen to harp music, sit by the fire or take a paddle boat ride.

Spring Event 2010, Burlap and Bows- Part one-

After much planning we finally made it ....the Spring Event for 2010 has come and gone.  I've had a little time to put together a run down......so here goes.

Setting up-

The day before the event...Ruth and I starting setting up.  Which included, staging the garden, parts of the shed, lake and yard.  We also started to put the food together. 

Shannon and her friends came in from Or. {Paige, Jenn, and Sheila} Oh my goodness what wonderful help were they, not sure if we could of pulled it off without them.  Thanks girls!

 

 

They-

• sliced enough Strawberries for 70 people
• filled 70 pots with dirt for the favors
• folded 70 napkins
• tied ribbon on 70 umbrellas 
• made signs
• did tons of dishes
• hung banners
• and a million other little things.

Sam was also there to be our little worker bee....doing all the heavy stuff.

 After all the preparations were in order for Saturday, we had a great dinner prepared by Danny and Sam. Which consisted of 

Salmon, asparagus, grilled pineapple, so yummy.{click on link to see pictures of the meal and other fun stuff.}

After dinner we had a little "rehearsal" run through for Paige....which she didn't need, her voice is fabulous!

 

 Early Saturday Morning we started to dress the tables.

 

 Each Table consisted of:

• white linen on the bottom
• Burlap covered tops
• white plates and white linen napkins
• one white orchid in a white pot
• one "sliced" of Oak....from a oak Tree log
• one small succulent plant in a small white dish 
• one white empty vase
• one sprig of rosemary on the napkins   
• one small white pot at each setting as a favor. {Filled with dirt and two leafs cut from plant-able paper} The idea was for them to take the small pot home, place the plant-able paper in their flower beds ....cover with the dirt from the pot, water & watch for new flowers to grow from the paper.

 

 

Each "favor" pot was placed next to their plate....when they arrived they were given another leaf with their name on it, which they then placed at the sitting of their choice.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 These girls were such a great help, and so fun to be around.   

Thanks to Shannon {my daughter} for bringing these lovely ladies and for making all the "burlap" banners you see in the background.
