It's all about shades of Purple in the Garden right now.....love this time of year when everything has a green haze.
This guy should be thankful it's not November. =)
Early each morning this guy and about 20 of his female friends walk through out property.
Yep....he's pretty proud of himself.
The Gophers let me keep 10% of the bulbs I planted...I am a little unhappy with those critters.....I wonder if that is how the Lord feels about us....when we give only 10 %? Just saying =)

This is a perfect weekend...working in the garden and General Conference.
I'm one lucky lady- Dan & a couple of my boys.....came and spent all day doing whatever I told them to do. We live on 5 acres.... so, consequently I always have a long list of things I would like done.
Like digging up things that have grown wild. Sanding, pruning and mowing.
We mow the full 5 acres {we have a nice riding lawn mower for that=}
What's a clean up day without a little fire? My guys love a good fire.

Finally putting the vintage locker baskets I bought at Remnants of past to good use.
Here is the little book nook ....on the stair landing.
I think every home should have a little area for little ones to sit and read. Just books and a little stuffed Ottoman. I plan to add a large blackboard when I find one or make it. I also plan to have a little note book at this site- the kids can write down what they have read- just for fun.

So sorry you have to see this....crazy mess. Funny thing though it didn't seem that bad until I took a picture of this closet and then looked at the pictures- they say pictures don't lie. Holy cow...how embarrassing.
As part of my goal this month to organized every closet in my home....one more done.
I took everything out of the room- edited out tons of stuff. Swept and cleaned all the shelves-
After-
Bought new hangers and a little stool. I also thought it might be fun to add a little "art" to the room. The door is always opened to this closet, so why not make it a little fun to look at. {Dan had that picture painted for me- two little love birds- and our names are carved in the tree.}
All I did was add a little Velcro to the back of the frame and some to the shelf.
The pictures help hide the not so pretty items- The little blackboard frame was just a picture frame I had.....painted the frames cardboard back with blackboard paint.....just a little fun place to leave a message.
New hangers, a little cleaning and a stool for fun.
Just that easy......well, it did take me 6 hours to clean it up. Yikes!
One more closet done.

Okay, so its a new year....and it seems I always get the bug to rip though my house and clean and organize everything....and man does it need it.
I organized my pantry last year, so this month I plan to organize every closet in my home. I pretty much have ignored these closets in the last year- so embarrassing.
Starting with a couple bathroom storage closets.

I have one more step, I think it would be fun to do something like Heidi did- using fabric and starch.
One more area that needed a little help were the Bunk berths in the theater room. Here's the before, as you can see, the berths needs a little help-
These bunks are in the theater room and the kids use them for napping, a fun place to hide and sleeping if the rooms are full.
Quite often when I'm needing a change.....a simple clean up and organizing is all it takes.
{I use under the bed storage containers for the kids to put their personal belongings in.}
I believe its not the stuff we dislike in our homes....its how we use and organise the stuff in our homes that makes the differences. I now like the bunks again.
Nothing new came in these two areas- just used what I had.
It's not what we buy and put in our homes that make it pretty- I believe any home can be beautiful doing a few simple things- clean & organize and following a few easy staging ideas.

Okay, so the temperature dipped into the high 60's....guess that means fall is here?
Everything has started to turn green...yep, green. From now until May- our property will look like a big green park; my favorite time of the year. { "le Shed", looks a little sad, usually she has pumpkins in her flower boxes.....sorry "le Shed" not this year, not enough hours in the day....but I promise you will look stunning for the Spring Event.}
A couple years ago, I propagated a cutting from the last remaining pomegranate tree that Danny's Father had planted. {They needed to cut down the tree because it was in the way at the Nut House.} But we wanted the tree to live on...hence the propagating.
This year we got our first big Harvest-

Last Spring I planned a new variety of Strawberries....that I really liked. {Strawberries from early may until now....I even picked a couple today.} But, I did a big NO, No....I didn't write down the name of the plant....so today, when I wanted to fill in the rest of the bed with the same plant....well, that's not going to happen....can't remember the name. So...I pulled off a dozen or so runners from the original plant...ta-da. Should fill in the rest of the bed by May. {& it was free}
I also planted 150 bulbs today- I think I might have a contest to see who can guess the number of bulbs that will actually get to grow-
"How many do you think will be left after the gophers get to them?"
Saying that..... two years ago I planted the same amount and not one was left....{ I take that back one grew about 150 feet from where I planted it.}
I swore I would never plant bulbs again..... I've tried everything from in-casing the bulb in wire, coco beans, spices, to things you plant in the ground that makes noise.....this year, I put a little surprise treat in the hole with the bulb....hoping that would help. Treats are good right? =)

Kent & Becca welcomed their new baby daugther, Ellie to their Family today.
Happy Sweet Day- Ellie is our 8th grandchild.
Little by little change is happening. I decided it was time to change up this room...so we moved out the 14 year old puffy sofa and brought in a new cream colored one.....here's a few pictures.
I also added a new chair.
Still a few more little things to change in this room. The old rug is still in there...not 100% sure if I like it with the new furniture....but it will do for now. I'm planning on adding some new pillows...later, perhaps after nut season. I would also like to take the cream curtains down.......still thinking on that. I kept Danny's leather chair, can't change that. =)
Some of the art needs to be changed.....like I said little by little. I want to do something new with the fireplace....not sure what; but for now I can live with how the room looks.
