The upstairs bathroom has just about everything I don't like in a bathroom-
- mustard tub
- sliding glass shower doors...(so hard to keep clean)
- long bar light fixture
- tiny side mirrors.
- brown cabinets with no hardware
and yep...it gets to stay that way. (well... we will be titling the floor after nut season....happy day for that...but everything else stays}
Danny's comment....it's in too good of shape to rip it out....look at all that character...plus I have faith in you ....you will make it look good.
Thanks?... I guess?
My first thought was to take the empty wall by the toilet and add some storage. (The cabin is used by all our kids...so I wanted things easy to find.}
Pallets would make some great shelves....that is if you can get them apart in one piece....Sam took pity on me as I was failing at the taking apart "part"...then when he almost broke a hammer....I said forget it.
Idea number 2
Maybe the local lumber yard has some scraps they would let me have. So I asked and they said yes.....the lumber guy took me back to their pile and he let me have my pick. Never hurts to ask. =)
(Sometimes living in a small town has it advantages}
I picked a couple board from an old broken crate....wider than pallet boards but still has character.
Just getting started in this room....one corner down...now on to problem number 2...the light.
Sandi gave me the idea of hanging something over the sink....Awesome.
But what do I do with the hole left in the wall after taking down the old light fixture?
So.... the other day as I was wondering about the vintage market....thinking, what could I use for a hanging light ....that's not a hanging light?
Teresa (she has a cool name =) spotted as old vintage "ghost" shade.....and I thought perfect! Now how to get it to work.
I ended up with this....(I also wired the "ghost" shade before I hung it....you can get kits at Lowes}
Now....I'm not finished....I want to
- paint the old front plate black
- add a couple antlers to the plate
- and maybe add some ball fringe to the bottom....not sure about that. What do you think?
I figure....the bathroom is already funky...what would antlers and flowers do to upset that?
But I thought you could see the fixture better....now I know why they call them "ghost" shades.
It is really hard to get a good picture of them.
Cost of make over so far...under $100
Hoping next week to have it completly finished...including the window treatment.
